Black businessman Patrice Motsepe was elected to the World Economic Forum in Davos

Billionaire Patrice Motsepe was elected to the board of the World Economic Forum in Davos at the gathering last week.

Motsepe is a businessman and founder of African Rainbow Minerals, of which he is also the executive chairman.

The announcement comes via social media after a storm erupted because he said earlier that South Africa loves Donald Trump.

During the Davos meeting, the billionaire had the opportunity to enjoy a luxury dinner with the US President.

While talking to President Trump, he said they do business with 50 countries, and he has the privilege of being one of the 100 biggest business brain powers that may now be with the president.

Johann Rupert is now SA’s richest person with a net worth of R105 billion

Johann Rupert is now the country’s richest man, having replaced Nicky Oppenheimer on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The list updates daily according to changes in the net worth of billionaires. While Oppenheimer was the word’s 216th richest person, and Rupert the 240th, the new tally puts Rupert at 241 and Oppenheimer at 245.

Rupert’s net worth is currently $7.36 billion, (approximately R105 billion), while Oppenheimer’s is $7.33 billion, (approximately R104.5 billion)

Rupert-controlled public companies valued more than R600 billion ($40 billion-plus) – including luxury goods holding company Richemont and diversified holding company Remgro – have been built over decades, and have made a wide range of stakeholders very wealthy over the years. These include government employees and the fiscus.
