If ever there was a business that should be a cash cow for the ANC government, diamond mining is it, well, maybe it is, directly into their back pockets! The ongoing weakness and current record low Rand value means record high prices for Alexkor’s diamonds abroad, which come from a vast resource of 90-95% gem-quality diamonds which exists off the west coast of Southern Africa. In fact it is so precious the entire area is off limits to the public, yet still the ANC government manages to make it bankrupt? Alexkor joins the long list of almost every single other SOE going bankrupt, begging the question to be asked, whether this is deliberate?

Taxpayers fork out more than R76m for funeral cost of ANC veterans

Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille has vowed to act against officials implicated in irregular expenditure related to the late stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral and those of two other ANC veterans.

It’s alleged a service provider inflated invoices, costing taxpayers a staggering R76 million.

De Lille has reportedly recommended that government should cap state funerals.

The minister said those implicated must be called to account.

“This is an ongoing investigation. We will make sure that we get to the bottom of this. We have already taken action against four senior officials in the department.”

De Lille reveals over 3,000 Public Works employees do business with department and 300 of those employees have their own companies

Patricia De Lille says more needs to be done to ensure people who work for the state don’t do business with the department

Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille has revealed more than 3,700 Public Works employees are doing business with the department.

She said 300 of those employees have their own companies and, in some instances, they had not declared the conflict of interest to the department.

The latest shocking revelations come as the Public Works Department investigates irregular expenditure relating to three state funerals that cost taxpayers a whopping R76 million.

It’s alleged a service provider inflated invoices for the funerals of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, former minister Zola Skweyiya and former chief of state protocol Billy Modise.

De Lille said more needed to be done to ensure people who work for the state don’t do business with the department.

It is often said that the Afrikaner changes his religion easier than his political party! One can almost believe that, given the fact that he allowed himself to be dragged right through the 1994 handover and into the ‘one man one vote’ state by the National Party, firmly believing that the National Party hasn’t changed at all.

We have the very same thing with Afrikaners sticking to the DA at all cost. Doesn’t matter how blatantly racist Mmusi Maimane is against white people, the Afrikaner sticks to the DA. Combine this with one of the Afrikaners favourite questions: “Who is the leader?” and you have trouble. If a leader goes awry, one should not follow him any more.
